Most industries, before they hire you to promote their product or service, have a list of requirement:  education, experience, accomplishments, referrals… In other words, you have to prove your worth.

Network marketing distributor requirements to generate a steady stream of income:
You must be over the age of 18 and sign a distributor agreement and commit to abiding by the company’s policies. That’s it. You are ready to start receiving commissions based on your performance.

The typical first time investment to join a Multi-level company is between $50 and $200.  The company provides the warehousing of product and a website for your members to do their ordering.  The company also provides a customer service for members. So you basically don’t need to hire employees.

If you join the company strictly as a wholesale customer you place orders whenever you wish.  Some companies require you to place an order at least once a year to maintain membership status.  If you wish to receive commissions from referrals on a consistent basis, most companies expect you to place a monthly order of $50-$100.

Look at your first 4 years in Network Marketing as your education to become a professional in your field.  Learn as much as you can.  Go to training.  Talk to your team leaders and learn from them. Have fun, socialize, and promote and ‘brand’ yourself.

At the end of 4 years, if you spend a little over $100 a month or $1500 a year, you will have spent $6000.
After the four year period is over, your education will be paid for since you are paying as you go.  You don’t have any student loans to pay off.  You will probably also be healthier since most network marketing company’s products or services promote a healthier lifestyle and you have been using the products. Also, at the end of this four year education, you don’t have to go out looking for a ‘job.’ You already have a profession that has probably already been paying you handsomely.

Pretty much you get to decide how much time you want to put into your business, how much training or self-education you want to take, and how much money you want to make.

In 1999, the IRS re-instated the favorable tax treatment of home office deductions, and helped make tax planning more attractive for networkers. If you take your network marketing business seriously, you may qualify for some serious tax advantages that are available to business owners, and in particular, home-based business owners.

Consult with an accountant that specializes in network marketing. He/she will advise you on trips, education, entertainment expenses you can write-off as business expense.

As an independent network marketing distributor you not only earn a referral fee on the first-time purchase of a new member you referred to the company, you also get paid on all their future orders. That person becomes part of your team.  There is no limit to the number of people you can refer to the company.  All your referrals become part of your team.  And so are all the members that are referred to the company by any member of your team. The commissions for each order may be a small percentage, but depending on how big your team is and how much they order, it could add up to hundreds or thousands of dollars per month.

If you structure your Network Marketing System strategically, you have an opportunity to reap the rewards of early efforts that will later generate passive income.  Passive income is when you continue to receive money with little or no efforts.  In other words, the checks keep coming if you take time off for months or years at a time.

Make sure your Network Marketing business is protected should anything happen to you.  You can make provisions to will your business to anyone you choose.  If your children are underage, you can assign someone to manage it for them.

You can also sell your business at any point in your career.
