Rub-A-Dub...

The list of harmful ingredients in much of our food, drinks, skin care and household products is endless.  Many people feel that reading labels is exhaustive and tend to turn a blind eye to the potential dangers.  It’s too bad that side effects don’t show up instantly.  By the time our different systems of the body start malfunctioning, it’s often difficult to make the association between that breakdown and the harmful ingredient found in our deodorant, or shampoo, or skin care product or whatever we have used habitually.

Remember, the FDA does not regulate many of our everyday products.  It is our responsibilty to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.  While small amounts of these harmful chemical in some products may seem insignificant to you, remember that these small amounts can accumulate over the years and not to mention that you may be using several products that contain the same haqrmful ingredient.

Our babies and small children are especially susceptible to this danger since their brains, nervous systems and other organs are still developing.  So, if you won’t do it for your own safety, at least do it for the children in your immediate circle.

These are just a handful of some of the most harmful culprits found in shampoos, skin care, and other products:

2-Phenoxyethanol:  found in baby cleansing cloths…harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin and may cause reproductive defects.  A severe eye and skin irritant.

Aluminum:  found in processed foods, antiperspirants, antacids…A study on the elderly conducted by The World Health Organization found that “there is a suspected link between alzheimer’s and the toxicity of aluminum…autopsies found high concentrations of the metal in the brain of people who had suffered from the disease.”

Benzol Alcohol:  found in baby lotions and diaper rash treatments. Large and/or continued exposure can lead to vomitting, central nervous depression, respiratory distress…death.

DEA:

Formaldehyde:

Isopropanol:

Parabens (i.e. methyl, ethly…):  a group of chemicals widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, i.e. shampoos, moisturizers, shaving gels, personal lubricants, baby wipes, toothpaste…

Have been linked to cancer development, they can be easily absormed through the skin and have been found in breast tissue and tumors.
